Calvary Memorial's Evangelical United Brethren roots are deep and profound. And the congregation has a clear outreach mentaility. It's unofficial motto for many years has been "as much for others as for ourselves."
The congregation is fulfilled in this in its outreach ministries. It shares in a program called "Community Ministry" with St. Mark's Lutheran Church, and in a clothing ministry with Conestoga College, under the motto "Sharing from our Closets and our Hearts." Members of the congregation serve as seamstresses to do alterations on the clothing, enabling a return to the workforce for the women in the Conestoga program. The manse has been revamped into a lodge for the nearby Grand River Hospital, providing accommodation for long term cancer patients and their supporting family members. Calvary Memorial also works with Habitat for Humanity.
CM looks to celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2012, and is presently in a transition time, as it downsizes staff from 1 1/2 time to 1 fulltime minister.
The Rev. Lynne Bandy is presently serving as a Presbytery-appointed supply minister, enabling this change.
